Watching Her Die
Walks with his baby, down by the bay
Holding her hand so she don’t drift away
Tries to speak but the words get strange
Lost in the fog, her world turns to gray
Moonrise, corpse on the tide
Stars shine, catch her hair in the light
Everyone’s deaf, everyone’s blind
But somewhere a child cries in the night
Painting pictures on the back of her brain
Speaking in riddles with nothing to say
Too numb for pain and too stoned to think
Her jokes are empty and the laughter is fake
She cries and complains, says she’s going insane
She’s having a feeling she just can’t explain
Eyes like knives as she grabs for a drink
If she wakes up tomorrow she’ll do it again
Killing herself, death in her eyes
Killing herself, doing pills and lines
Killing herself, the love of his life
And I’m standing by, watching her die
